IMPORTANT – Waiver document

I realise that Steam has been operating for many years without a waiver document but in this litigious day and age, after obtaining legal advice the committee has decided to implement a waiver form.    Nearly all other cycling and triathlon clubs ask for a signature on a waiver document when people join the club so this should not be new to most people.   We are implementing this form so that we can have a safe environment for our riding and training.

All club members need to understand the risks involved with riding a bike and that we all have individual responsibility when riding.    Through our triathlon and cycling licenses we have a certain amount of insurance that covers us when we ride (in groups not as individual riders).  This waiver is necessary to give the club, its office bearers and all riders a level of confidence that each person understands and accepts the risks and legal position in event of accidents.

Could everyone please download the form and print it out –and  fill it in before their next cycling session with Steam.   We will have a certain grace period but after that, if members have not signed this form we will be unable to let you ride with us.  As from next week, it will be available for download from the Steam website as well for your convenience.

This event will cater for everyone who enjoys riding a bike. The racetrack, which is approximately 4 kilometres long, is up to 15metres wide and will allow room for everyone from competitive elite cyclists through to social riders and children.

Professional timing will be used, with a transponder-based timing system in place.

All supporting facilities will be available on the day, including food and a fully operating bike shop. In addition to the ride itself, entrants can expect the usual additional activities that Bright Orange Promotions events are famous for in the mountain biking world. These include competitions, demonstrations, entertainment and in general, one of the bigger sights to be seen in the cycling year.

A note from our founder … Brett Mace

The ITU World Cup @ Mooloolaba will screen on Channel 7 @ 11.30am on Sunday 22nd May.

Just enough time for a long ride, copious coffee and then sit down and relax to watch the World Cup.
