Steam team blast their way on to the track
A big congratulations to Muir Mathieson on his new Pinarello who took out Division 4 in the second week of Friday night track racing at Dunc Gray velodrome.  I don't think Muir will be in Div 4 for too long as his points score is on the up and up.  For all those interested, Peloton Sports (our sponsored club) goes to the track every Friday night and can lend you a track bike if you want to give it a go.

Heffron

Congratulations to Peter Feain for coming second in D grade on Saturday in his first ever crit race.  Knowing Randwick Botany you’ll soon be up in B grade with the rest of the Steam crew !!

Gunning weekend – TTT

If you want accommodation for the Gunning weekend, you must have your cheque made payable to Turramurra Cyclery or cash to Anna or Daniele by Friday 8th otherwise you will lose your spot.   Only prompt payment will ensure accommodation due to high demand.

Tour de France function Sunday 17th July

Come and join your fellow Steam team and Peloton Sports members on Sunday afternoon July 17th to watch a replay of the Saturday night mountain stage on the big screen – at the Point Hotel, 59 Harris St, Pyrmont, NSW 2009 from 3pm.  There is an extensive bar and snacks menu available so come along and socialise while watching cycling’s premier event.

Please let Lisa Springer know (lisa.springer@wilsonhtm.com.au) if you can make it by Tuesday July 12th.

Hope to see you there – it should be fun.

Bowral weekend

The next Steam Bowral weekend will be on Sat 27th August returning on Sunday 28th August.  We ride down there on the Saturday – 160km from Centennial Park.  Then on Sat night, join your fellow riders for dinner at the local round the woodfire.  On Sunday we have a recovery coffee ride before returning to Sydney.

We have held this ride several times and it has always proved to be a very popular event.  If you are interested, pencil in this date and let Anna, Rod or Daniele know to secure your spot.  More details nearer the time.

Weekend rides

Sat

6:45am from the coffee van in the middle of the park for TTT training.   Please come along as there are only 2 more weeks before the race.  This training is open to everyone – racing or not.  Approx 60kms and back in the park by 9am for coffee.

Sun 6:30AM

Please note time change until end of August due to the winter darkness.   The faster group will be going through the National Park and practising their TT skills across the top for 20km.  There will also be a steady ride through the park as well.  105km total.

This ride will be starting at 6:30AM until the end of August when we will revert to 6:15am.

Sydney 28 June 2005 – Italia Springtour

It’s 14 days since we finished the 9th edition of the Italian tour, the memory of the great rides food history and beauty of the Italian country side are now good memories of the past, but these new friends that you met in this year event are here to stay.

I like to express my sincere thanks firstly to my family: my wife Colette and my children Luca, Siena and Marco for holding the fort while I was in Italy with a bunch of crazy Australian and Kiwi bike riders.

My sincere thanks also to Daniel and Anna as ride coordinator and masseur, their help on and off the road was essential, I am sure everyone from the tour will remember one or two tips that Daniel and Anna give them during the rides (14 rides in 21 days, close to 1300 km.).

A special thanks to these people that stepped in to substitute the valuable work of Daniel and Anna on the Steam training rides: Rod, Peter, John and Rob, sincerely thank you for your effort and help.

Ciao for now.

Pino.
