Peloton Sports update
As most people know by now, Steam Sports is now affiliated for its cycling racing to Peloton Sports Inc which is a fast growing cycling club on the north side. ALL Steam members are welcome at Peloton Sports events and below is a quick update of some of the events on offer for the next few months or so. So if you are interested in continuing to improve your road cycling and racing, or trying some track or mountain biking then feel free to contact the guys at Peloton Sports and take part in some of their events as they will be taking part in some of ours.
Peloton Sports training camp – Jan 28th, 29th and 30th
Our affiliated sister cycling club, Peloton Sports, are having a training camp based down in the Shoalhaven region at the end of Jan. Basically, you can cycle for the full 3 days (meals and accommodation included) for $200. All rides are fully supported. The other option – and I think there will be quite a Steam contingent – is to ride the “Quattro Colli” on Saturday 29th for $25 which includes your support food and drink and lunch afterwards. All details below or otherwise follow the link
-- http://www.turramurracyclery.com.au/default.asp?page=tcroadprofile&ida=28&idb=tcroad and click on “Full Details”. Payment can also be made online on the Turramurra Cyclery website. If anyone is interested in going (especially just for the Saturday ride) please email ciclismo@tpg.com.au so we have an idea of numbers. There is a bail out option on that ride as well for those who are not as keen on the hills !
Great training for Ironman as well as other folks planning on some of the longer cycle racing this season.

Andersons (Wentworth Falls to Woodford)
This trail is all fire road and a combination of some seriously fast downhill sections (with water bars to add to the fun), followed by some very challenging hill climbs that will test the best of them, CAN YOU RIDE ALL THE CLIMBS?
Oaks (Woodford to Glenbrook) Not as savage as Andersons it consists of undulating fire trail until reaching the helicopter pad where you are treated to a 7km downhill before heading into some single track for the last 5km, just when you are on sealed road and think its all over there is a road climb that will make you glad your not on the roadie
Things to bring Plenty of fluids, spare tubes, energy food, sun block, remember you will be in the middle of no-where so be prepared.

2005 Menzies Classic
The Kalgoorlie club would be delighted if some of our guys from Peloton Sports tryed their luck next year. The Menzies Classic is one of the oldest (and richest) road races around, 134km hooning down the Goldfields Highway southward from Menzies to Kalgoorlie. Typical Goldfields outback country, flat with a few "lumps". Full exposure to any winds so can be a very tough ride if other than a northerly is blowing- more chance of northerly tail winds in June though. Race record (2002) is 2hr 28min ($2,500 if you break it!). Handicap race, Grades A to E, $25,000 prize money including the pre race criterium, $50 for coming last!
Let us know if you are interested in this one. Check out Kalgoorlie Cycle Club
Track Racing Who wants to race the track season? If your keen let us know so we can give a hand to get you racing. Give Will a call at the bike shop on Friday's. 91442128
