Weekend activities

Sat 5th Nov

6:00am – two groups to Waterfall and return (90km) followed by Pilates at the Musgrave Ave area near the gates 9:30am (cost $20).

Feedback from last week’s session was that it was very good and most of us did not have the core strength that we thought we had.   Also it was priceless to hear someone telling Daniele to “pick it up” (as in his hips for some of the strength work).  Please come along and try it as you will be surprised at the difference it will make to your cycling and other sporting activities.

Sun 6th Nov

6:15am – Rob Gorman taking Steam Sunday ride.  Destination TBA.     Steam contingent will be racing at Eastern Creek criterium racing.  Please let Daniele know if you are thinking of racing – ciclismo@tpg.com.au .

Noosa

Good luck to all those racing at Noosa this weekend : Rowan and Jan Davies, Zoe King, Wayne McCarthy, John Flynn,  Stephen Doolan’s team and Alex Hamill’s team … Anyone else that I have forgotten please let me know.

Farewell to Rob and Lisa

There will be a farewell dinner for Rob and Lisa, who are departing for the US in a couple of weeks, at Cellinis Italian restaurant, Frenchman’s Road, Randwick on Sat 12th November at 6:30pm.

If you can make it to say goodbye and thanks to them both for their contribution to the club over the years, please let Breeda know on breedak@swiftdsl.com.au by Tuesday 8th November.

Hamill Cup

The Hamill Cup will be run again on Sat 17th December so start bribing the officials and members of the club to get the best team together.   It is a 7 lap team time trial of the container terminal – all teams are 3 people, one of which must be female.  Combined age of the team must add up to 120 – if younger then time penalties will be incurred and if older there will be time bonuses.   This will be run on strict UCI rules and there will be drug testing afterwards (especially for excess red wine).  This leaves the winning of the Cup wide open to all and sundry in the club so get your teams together now and start practising.   There will be awards for top 3 teams at the Xmas party on Sunday 18th December.

For insurance purposes, all members of teams must be financial members of Steam and this event is being run as a timed training ride.

Christmas Party

Sunday 18th December from 3pm at the Steelcase showroom in Pyrmont.   Please put this date in your diary as it’s going to be a great afternoon.  Thanks to one of our sponsors Rowan Davies for organising the venue.  More details to follow but there’s going to be lucky door prizes, awards (both serious and fun), plasma screens, coffee machines and lots of groovy office furniture as well as lots of time to socialise with your fellow club members.
