Port Macquarie Half Ironman results

Well done to all that participated and got a spot for the big one in April.  By all accounts it was a very hard course with hills like Attunga St in it.  If I have forgotten anyone, please let me know so that I can include you in the next update.

Good luck to Maria Papadopoulous who is racing her mountain bike in the National series in Tasmania on the weekend.

Steam membership

If you are still receiving this email and you have not paid your membership up until June 2006 and you would like to continue to be part of Steam, then please send in your membership, payment and waiver form by end of October.  These were due by the end of June. We are currently going through the database of the current membership list.

Daylight saving

Remember that the clocks go forward one hour this Saturday night – therefore unfortunately we lose an hour’s sleep.  All those that ride to the park for training may need to put lights back on for a while depending on how far you need to come.  Lights should not be needed for the 5:45 sessions in the week.    If you forget to do this you will miss the bunch on Sunday as we will be departing one hour earlier than normal !!!!

Hamill Cup

The Hamill Cup will be run again on Sat 17th December so start bribing the officials and members of the club to get the best team together.   It is a 7 lap team time trial of the container terminal – all teams are 3 people, one of which must be female.  Combined age of the team must add up to 120 – if younger then time penalties will be incurred and if older there will be time bonuses.   This will be run on strict UCI rules and there will be drug testing afterwards (especially for excess red wine).  This leaves the winning of the Cup wide open to all and sundry in the club so get your teams together now and start practising.   There will be awards for top 3 teams at the Xmas party on Sunday 18th December.

For insurance purposes, all members of teams must be financial members of Steam and this event is being run as a timed training ride.

Weekend rides

Introductory Pilates : Pilates will be on in the park from 9:30am to 10:30am this Sat morning after training depending on the weather.  $20 per head and aimed at improving core strength for cyclists and runners.   If you are intending to come please bring a towel and wear appropriate clothing – bike gear will do but may be too hot.  We will probably have it adjacent to Musgrave Avenue in the flat grassy area under the trees (plenty of parking available)  but this will be advised on the day (meet at the caravan).  We will leave the caravan at 9:20 to go to the session.  Any more information please email ciclismo@tpg.com.au.

Please come along as the instructor is very good.  I hope to see everyone there and will be expecting much more core strength on the bike.

SATURDAY 22nd OCT 6.45am MEETING AT THE CARAVAN riding out to the container terminal for some Criterium Experience total dist 50-60kms  back by 9am.

SUNDAY 23rd  OCT 6:15am from the caravan. Ride to Waterfall and back (90kms return) for a flat ride.  There will be two groups.  Back in the park by 9am to 9:30am for coffee.

T shirts

T shirts can be picked up from Kerry next week after training on Tues, Wed or Friday. Please email Kerry on kerry@randcard.com.au and let her know so she can bring your T shirt down to the park.

Future email updates

As Rob and Lisa are sadly leaving us for pastures new, I will be taking over the regular weekly email update.  If you have any content for this please email me in good time so that I can include it.  This includes and is not limited to – items for sale, races or events you want to promote, general social or charity events etc etc. and especially any races that you are going to participate in or any race results (triathlons, cycles, mtbs, swims, paddles etc etc) as I want to make sure that all participation is recognised by the club – please let me know if you are competing so I can include you in the updates.

Thanks – emails can be sent to Anna.Murray@microsoft.com or ciclismo@tpg.com.au
