Missed Breeda Kelly in the results last week - she rode in the 3rd placed womens team with a cycle time of 2:55 - well done.

"Race was pretty tough. Was a windy and hot day. Wind made the open water swim v. choppy and the wind made the 5 lap x 18km bike course pretty tough going. The run was then hot in the sun... All in all though, happy in hindsight with the result (5hrs 13 min) and I qualified for IM Port Macquarie which I was very happy with. So a lot more training needed!" .. James Tucker

Weekend

With the Bowral ride there are no scheduled STEAM rides. The Bowral ride leaves at 6:30am from York Rd gates if you want to join them to Waterfall or Bulli. If you go out by yourself or in a small group please take care on the road. Centennial park is closed to cars Sunday.

Oxfam 100km Trailwalker, 26-28th August 2005

The trailwalker is a 100km bush trail walk/run for teams of 4 to raise money for Oxfam Australia. There are 2 teams with STEAM members competing, Team 380, "Standard & Poor's", with Zoe King, and Team 271 "Big Canoes 2" with Bianca Van Woesik, Stuart Webster, John Murphy, and Rob Gorman. Friends of STEAM also competing include Murph's wife, Cass (Team 113,"Mudbugs").

Committee and AGM

Just to let everyone know that we now have a new Treasurer for Steam as Kerry took over from Lisa at the weekend.  I would like to thank Lisa for all her time and effort in keeping the books for Steam and welcome Kerry to this important position. 

The AGM has now been scheduled to Sunday 9th October. More details soon.

Job description: Cycling Division Manager

  3. Bike-fitting for clients
  4. Coaching individual and group cycling sessions
  5. Developing dynamic personal contacts with members and clients 

Experience and skills required.

  1. Ex-professional cyclist / triathlete or high-level amateur
  2. Passionate about cycling! Interest in all areas of bike biomechanics and aerodynamics.
  3. Up-to-date knowledge on bike design, assembly, components and accessories.
  4. Fluent in English, with excellent written and oral communication skills. All our staff are strongly people-orientated, and we take pride in the relationships we have with our international clients. It’s essential that you have good interpersonal skills, understanding the needs of our clients and developing good personal relationships with them.
  5. Sense of responsibility and ability to supervise staff.
  6. Coaching or teaching experience preferred, with a passion for helping others achieve their sporting potential. Prior overseas work experience would be useful.
  7. Experience in sales and purchases preferred, with good analytical skills
  8. A high level of motivation, with an enthusiastic personality. Triathlon is an international sport appealing to our potential clients across the region: our key customers can be found in the fields of banking and finance, law and business; demanding people with hectic work diaries expecting a specialized, professional service.
  9. Original ideas to bring energy to our team. We hope that you will bring a vision to create a signature bike-building program which will attract new clients, and encourage our members and beginner athletes to invest in quality cycling equipment.
