Speedy recoveries …..

To Jim Woods who came across an errant stick this morning and has a couple of broken bones in his elbow – best wishes for a full and quick recovery and …

To Pete Feain who was taken out during the C grade sprint at Heffron on Saturday and is missing a fair bit of bark – ouch.

Hope to see you both back soon on your bikes.

Hello from Hungary

Hope this finds you all well.   Currently in Tiszaujvaros Hungary, a small town of around 15,000 people and not a great deal to do and the chance to get this email out which I have been meaning to do for some time.   Having said this though, it has great triathlon facilities and is our likely base for a couple of months next year.    The World Cup is on tomorrow and is one of the athlete’s favorite races, more because of the party (there are parties all week as it is all part of a huge Triathlon Festival which runs for a week.)    The athletes are treated like ‘rock stars’ by the many women who flock to town for this event, hence why it is so popular!!!

Head off to Lausanne next week for the European Championships and also the European Congress.

Last week I was in Hamburg and it was a fantastic week.    A really lovely city and a fantastic event right in the middle of the city and so well organised (that German efficiency!!).   The mens race was one of the best ever with 5 athletes running shoulder to shoulder  until about 300 metres to the finish before it became a 3 way sprint and one of the closest finishes ever.   The whole event was live on the big screen and fantastic to watch (something that is not normally said about ‘live’ triathlon).   All in all a good week especially with the cooler weather after 2 pretty hot weeks in Greece.

Alexandropoulis in Greece was vastly different from the efficiency of the Germans but located on some lovely beaches on the Aegean Sea and a completely different lifestyle.   The European Junior Championships were quite good and also the Development Camp we had for athletes the week after the race.

Till next time, take care and hopefully will catch up some time this year!!!!

Safe training and good health

hi all!

Many of you have been wondering what the hell we are up to... Well, since we entered muslim countries (pakistan and iran), we have not been allowed to upload anything on the website, hence our silence... It'll have to wait until Turkey, which is now less than 1500 kms away... Attached a photo to show you that we are still well and good, and hope to give you some more news very soon. Thanks for all your emails, keep them coming!

Cheers
