A Message to Triathlon Clubs regarding Volunteers for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games

Triathlon Australia and Melbourne 2006 are working with Triathlon Victoria to source people for triathlon sports specific volunteer positions at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

We are asking clubs to get behind this and promote this expression of interest call within their clubs.  It is a great opportunity to become involved.  Lets all get behind this and show the world what a great sport triathlon is.

Expressions of interest are sought from people wishing to be considered for triathlon sports specific volunteer positions.

Roles include, but are not limited to:

  • Athlete Services
  • Co-ordinators
  • Bike Mechanics
  • Supervisors
  • FOP Marshalls
  • Sector Leaders
  • Drink Station Assistants
  • Wheels Stop Assistants

We are looking for:

  • Experience at National or International events
  • Experience at State events
  • If little to no volunteering experience, at least 3 years experience as a competing triathlete
  • Having TA Technical Official accreditation is preferred but not essential.

Important Notes:

Expression of interest shall only be made on the TA nomination form. No additional information by way of curriculum vitae should be provided. Go to www.trivic.org.au for nomination form.

Triathlon Australia shall not be limited to applications received when recommending the appointments to Melbourne 2006

Nomination forms should be completed online or downloaded and posted to Triathlon Sports Specific Volunteer, PO Box 2870, Fitzroy Vic 3065 by no later than 31st March 2005.

Appointments are expected to be announced after the 2004/2005 season concludes.

Triathlon Australia cannot guarantee all applicants a position as a triathlon sports specific volunteer.

Applications for Melbourne 2006 general volunteer roles have now closed.

The collection, use, disclosure and security of your personal information shall be consistent with the privacy policy of Triathlon Australia and Melbourne 2006.

If your application progresses through to the next stage, you will be required to complete further documentation for Melbourne 2006, which will include a security check.

Training for triathlon sports specific volunteer positions will be undertaken prior to the Commonwealth Games and will include participation in specific volunteer role at triathlon events during the 2005/2006 domestic season.

Research Survey

Hello, everyone,
Any assistance you could give in this reserach project would be greatly appreciated.  Lina Augaitis is a Masters student at the University of British Columbia and is completing a study on age-group Triathletes. All it requires is for each athlete to fill out the attached questionnaire and return to the address below.
LINA AUGAITIS :

She needs over 160 people, but I know you all have a number of age-group contacts.  If we could all secure 10-15 people, that would be wonderful and fulfill the requirements.  Feel free to pass this on to whomever you wish.  It is always refreshing to see research in Triathlon.  Thank you for your contribution!!
