SUTHERLAND/WATERFALL Sunday the 12th 6.15am at the Randwick Gates. The park is closed on Sunday morning for the marathon so you cannot drive into the normal coffee van meeting place. Rod Knutson will be taking the group to either Sutherland or Waterfall depending on the number of riders, please ensure you check tyre pressures & condition like how worn are they & check for cuts, also I would advise riders to carry two spare tubes at all times.

Bowral Weekend 30th/31st October

STEAM is planning a long ride to Bowral on the weekend of 30th/31st October. We will ride south to Bulli for coffee then down Bulli Pass to Wollongong, then to Albion Park and up Macquarie Pass to Robertson for pies and more coffee, and then to Bowral ~ 160km total. We will stay the night in Bowral and the next day ride in the morning. We hope to have a van or car to support the ride down, so if anyone would like to drive the whole way or ride half/drive half please let us know. Rod has made a booking for the Bowral weekend at the Ivy Tudor Inn, so we need to know who will be coming and the split of singles to doubles or triples. The accomodation cost is roughly $120 per double room with the dinner for Sat night budgeted at about $50 per head. Rod has booked 9 rooms currently and will need to know the split between doubles and twins. At this stage more rooms could be booked if necessary. Please contact Rod to indicate your interest or to get more info. rodknutson@hotmail.com

Running

STEAM will be starting a running session to cater for all abilities on Monday evening at 6:30pm. The sessions will include some hill-repeats and up-tempo intervals, but the idea generally is to facilitate STEAM members training together as we do for cycling. We already have one group on Wednesday morning at 6:00am and Saturday morning at 6:30am (usually a long run) and hopefully we can get a couple of groups to run on these days as well. So please come along for a run on Monday evening at 6:30PM, meeting at the York Rd gates of Centennial Park.

Centennial Park Closures
The Blackmores Sydney Marathon is taking place on Sunday 12 September 2004.  The course route, approximately following the Olympic blue line, encompasses Federation Way and a figure of eight route through Centennial Park.

Centennial Park is closed to all vehicles including cyclists, roller bladers and horse riders on the morning of Sunday 12 September.  It is anticipated that the park will re-open to all users by 10am.

Given the closure of Centennial Park on this morning, cyclists are requested to meet at Randwick Gates on Sunday 12 September. Signage will be in place at the Mobile Food Van from 4 September to notify regular cyclists of this alternative meeting point, and on the event day Centennial Parklands staff will direct all cyclists to the meeting point at Randwick Gates.

There are extensive road closures throughout Sydney on 12 September for this event, further information is also available  at www.rta.nsw.gov.au , traffic congestion throughout the city as a result of this event is to be expected.

Also taking place on this day, but not impacting on Centennial Parklands, are the Blackmores Sydney Half Marathon and the Sunday Telegraph 10km Bridge Run.
