Team Time Trial
Steam will be putting in teams for the State Team Time Trial Championships for the first time ever this year.  It will be held at Calga on Sunday August 15th.  Please see the NSW Cycling website for more details http://www.nsw.cycling.org.au/.   In previous years, these details have had a habit of changing right up until the day but it gives you an idea of the distance and the start times.

We are going to be training on Saturday mornings leaving the coffee van in the park at 6:45am. Daniele is working on a 6-7 week program with at least one visit to Calga to ride the course in this period.  Also please put July 4th in your diaries as there is an ITT at Calga on that day.

Please could you let Anna anna.murray@autodesk.com and Daniele daniel_vanolini@nfimporters.com.au know if you are interested in competing for STEAM.  Thanks for your time and effort and let’s give our first shot at racing in orange and blue a real go ….. And also remember that we have serious competition out there (primarily from the Sydney Women’s teams) so remember this is not just an amateur age group cycling competition on a Sunday morning – it is far more serious than that and there will be drug testing done by Kerry Freeman to ensure that we have better drugs than the competition.  See you all out there – come and see myself or Daniele if you want further info. You will need to get a cycling race licence through STEAM.

Postcard from Pino

The eighth edition of the Italia Spring Tour has proved another great success, with more and more Italians expecting a bunch of Australian cyclists to herald the start of spring!

Among the 16 riders of the tour we clocked up over 20,000 kms on the road, without incident and without a single puncture – that has got to be a record!

Special thanks go to Daniele and Anna for their invaluable assistance – both on and off the road. As always the success of the tour comes from the group, its riders and helpers. The Italian scenery makes a good holiday, sharing it with such a great bunch of people makes it really great.

Also, thanks to  Adam, Rod and John – who took care of Steam training while Daniele and Anna took care of things in Italy.

I look forward to seeing all of you at training – as I prepare for our next big challenge, the West Spring Tour.

Ciao for now . . .

Pino.
