TTT training

There will be TTT training starting 6:45 from the coffee van in the park on Sat.    As an added incentive for all involved, there will be a barbie/sausage sizzle after the race in August for everyone to talk about how they could have gone better etc etc so put that date in your diary.  More details to come.

Northside  Sunday ride

The ride this Sunday will be starting at 7am from Turramurra cyclery in Turramurra.   We are riding to Calga to do the ATTA 25km individual time trial and then back to Turramurra which is a ride of approx 120kms.  For those that want a shorter option start at the top of Brooklyn hill at Pie in the Sky and pick up the bunch there.  We will roll past there at approx 7:45am and that ride will be approx 75kms.   If you are intending to do the time trial there is a joining fee of $5 to join ATTA and $4 race fee.    You do NOT need a cycle license for this.    Look at http://www.atta.asn.au/ for more information and course info.    All welcome as the hard effort will be whatever you want to put into the TT – alternatively you can just do your own thing and not race and come back with us.    Those thinking of doing the Team Time trial are encouraged to do this as it will give you a chance to see part of the course and start honing your speedwork.

Anyone thinking of coming on Sunday’s ride bring plenty of food and drink as there’s not too many places on the way.   And there could be some waiting time at Calga for everyone to finish their TTs so some warm clothing is a good idea too

Upcoming events

Watch the social calendar for the next get together at Cellini’s which will be a Sat night in the near future.  A chance to catch up with everyone in normal clothes, have some good Italian food and a couple of beers and also look at some photos from the recent Italia trip plus a really special slideshow (with video) which gives you a chance to see what we really got up to as well as some of the Giro riders.

Weekends away

Tentative dates for a Kangaroo valley weekend on 9th/10th October to coincide with the  Berry country fair.

Tentative date for next Bowral trip on 30th/31st October – great practice for those intending to do the Lake Taupo race at the end of November or anyone who wants a steady 170km ride.

Waterfall Hill Stats by Warren Lee
the last 600m or so has a 10% gradient so it is genuinely a bit ugly. The first bit is a 7% grade for 1500m or so.
This compares to the climb to Fitzroy falls which is 6.7kms at 8.5%.

Tour de France in Clovelly Rd
Cheeky Monkey is getting a bigscreen TV for the month of July so we can watch the Tour in style each night.

This Sunday is the Prologue and we are going to have a little celebration. Starting at around 3 we will be showing “The road to Paris” which follows Armstrong in his preparation for the 2001 Tour, and an old 1965 Tour video, before the SBS coverage at 6pm.
We will also be running a Tour tipping competition, which you can enter on the night, and Pete will be running a wattage competition (street shoes only). Current record is Matt Lucas at 999 watts (with clipless pedals however.).

Food and beer will be provided, and everyone is welcome. Bring a chair if possible.

Thanks
Adam

Party Time

Rob - just wondering if there is any chance you can lob a notice in the next STEAM Update inviting the STEAM crew to a party I'm throwing for my 35th. Its at the World Bar in the Cross on Friday 16 July - STEAM crew along with partners/friends welcome. I've pulled together a band? (those living in the Coogee area may have heard something resembling a jam session coming from our place over the last few weekends..).. If you missed Woodstock, you won't want to miss this...we've lined up some classics.

Hope to see a few STEAM crew there! Details in attachment below. And it's a Friday night so no excuses for not turning out for the sunday morning ride!!

cheers Nick Osler
