Snap Ironman Australia interview on the Today Show...
Set your VCRs to see STEAM's Belinda Granger on the Today Show:

Please tune into the TODAY SHOW on Channel 9 tomorrow April 14th at 6.50am for an interview on the couch with Australian Snap Ironman Australia triathlon champion Chris McCormack and Jim Hazel Trophy winner, Belinda Granger.

STEAM at Jindabyne

Thanks to all 2 dozen or so members who ventured to Jindabyne for a STEAM hill-climbing Easter weekend. Jindabyne provided great riding weather with some post-ride swimming in the lake, although the head-wind on the way to Charlotte Pass was strong and chilly. Much coffee, beer, wine, chocolate and home-cooked food was consumed to make a truly complete vacation. Daniele and team won the "Who want's to be a Phil Liggett" cycling quiz taking a 1.2kg chocalate egg as a prize.,which proceeded to cause controversy when it was abducted numerous times. Controversy also reigned over Anna's description of the Dalgety loop as a "flat ride". Many thanks to Kerry for providing the lodge, Anna and Daniele - organizers and ride captains, and especially to Marcus - the STEAM Jindabyne coffee barista extraordinaire.

Wine Appreciation course - spots available… !!

Cost is $20 per head and venue is the Wine Society in Cathedral St, Woolloomoolloo. Date Friday 23rd April at 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Cheese and biscuits and nibblies supplied plus some sweets for the stickies. Please let Anna know as soon as possible (anna.murray@autodesk.com) if you wish to enhance your wine appreciation skills.

Macquarie Pass ride

The next STEAM Macquarie Pass ride will be on Monday 26th April which is a public holiday.  The ride will start from Kiama and go up Macquarie Pass – a steady 12km climb – and stop for coffee at the Robertson Pie Shop.   We will then descend Jamberoo Pass and have lunch in Kiama for those that have the time.  The total ride is 75km and available for all levels.   It is a very scenic ride and good for all those planning to go overseas to tackle some European mountains.  Please let Anna know anna.murray@autodesk.com if you are interested.

Dinner and Jazz this Thursday 15th April

Marcus from Zoo café in Bondi Junction mall is offering Steam members a special one off deal for their autumn evening series.  Zoo is open for al fresco dining on Thursday nights from 4pm to 9pm with live jazz.   Marcus is offering 20 Steam members a very special deal this Thursday 15th – we will have our own decorated table and menu with some very special meal deals and a free round of drinks.   Expected cost is approx $15 per head – you can’t get better than that.   Please let Anna know if you are interested in dinner at 6:30 on Thurs 15th April with at least one free beer or glass of wine.

STEAM Update 8th April 2004

Australian Ironman Triathlon, Forster, 4th April 2004

Congratulations to Belinda Granger who has reclaimed the Jim Hazell Trophy for the first Aussie woman home at Forster on the weekend. Belinda is now a 4-time winner of the trophy and claimed it with a PB time for the Forster course, finishing second to 3-time winner Lisa Bentley. Justin Granger also continued his great form at Forster with another top-ten finish, along with age-groupers Danny Iannazzo, Brenda Hamill, and Geoff Doble. All STEAM competitors finished the race with 7 first-timers: Aaron Lean, John Scerri, John Sweet, Jana Bayliss, Andrew Bilsdon, James Fenner and Tony Browne; and 3 huge PB's: Belinda (~22 min ), Michael Baker (1hr10) and Adrian Urquhart (1hr23). Well done to all who competed on a "different" Forster day - with no wet-suits, and no howling wind on the bike. Thanks to all the spectators cheering at Forster and also those getting updates via mobile and internet.
See http://www.xtri.com/ for race reports including Belinda's view of the race.
